Appropriately, it kind of stinks. It can do more than nothing, which is better than some pokemon this generation. It can act as an annoying tank. With a respectable HP and workable defensive stats, it should be able to take a hit pretty well. This is aided by its dark/poison typing leaving it with only one weakness and four resistances and an immunity. The speed stat leaves a lot to be desired since it is too fast for Trick Room, but too slow to work outside of tailwind. If you use Skunktank as a bulky support, you’re likely going to find more success, even if the supportive options aren’t very deep. It gets both Toxic and Fire Spin, if you want to slowly chip down a foe, but it also gets Taunt and the decently reliable Super Fang. It can set weather but with its speed, it likely won’t be very good at that. The best move it gets is likely Acid Spray which can chip to break a Focus Sash, and it lowers Special Defense by 2 stages. It also gets Snarl, a spread move which lowers Special Attack by 1 for everyone it hits. To make this a bit better, Skuntank also gets the ability Stench, which adds a flat 10% flinch chance to every move which doesn’t already have a flinch chance. Before you think this is good, remember that flinch only matters if you can move before the opponent. Also, the flinch chance can’t be boosted by holding King’s Rock or Razor Fang, and using a multi-hit move doesn’t give you more flinch chances. Still, giving Snarl a slight chance to flinch on top of the stat drop is decent. If you have a team with a slow, tanky playstyle, you might find room for Skuntank. More likely, you will just draft this pokemon in the late rounds and maybe use it once.
