I want them to give this one a mega evolution so bad, guys. You have no idea how satisfying and funny it would be to me to use Mega Yanmega. Alas, we do not live in that world yet. Yanmega is just a straight upgrade to Yanma. Speed Boost, Tinted Lens, and Frisk are all great abilities. Though, it does not have access to compound eyes, unfortunately. This means Speed Boost is strictly the best bet in most cases. 95 Speed is a good enough starting point but after one turn, you’re off to the races, as it were. This is a viable Tailwind setter who can also supply some impressive damage with 116 Special Attack. Fun fact- Bug Buzz is a sound-based move, so you can actually get some serious value out of Throat Spray on Yanmega, especially when you’re also raising your speed every turn (or hitting resists for neutral with Tinted Lens, as the case may be). But enough glazing. Yanmega is still incredibly killable, what with its 4x weakness to rock you need to watch out for, and its lack of Compound Eyes makes it even less reliable than Yanma at using Hypnosis. Without a solid support option like that, it can sometimes struggle to contribute meaningfully to battle before getting taken out. It does get some good coverage with Shadow Ball, Giga Drain, Ancient Power, and even Solar Beam for some reason. It’s not a bad pokemon and there are a lot worse Tailwind setters out there, but you can probably get away with nabbing it pretty late.
