Riolu is the only Prankster pokemon available in the draft, and that means a lot. It is too frail to make good use of eviolite for the most part, and would more likely hog a focus sash, but the more important question is how good are its support options? The pool is not very diverse but the few options are strong ones. The best bet for Riolu is to spam Coaching onto a bulky and powerful physical attacker. It can also help out with Follow Me redirection, it is the fastest weather setter with both Rain Dance and Sunny Day, can use Quick Guard to shut down priority attacks from opposing pokemon, and has its own priority moves in Quick Attack, Vacuum Wave, and Bullet Punch for breaking opposing Focus Sash. Pairing Riolu with the right partners is pretty crucial to making it truly work, but it shouldn’t be hard to find a good one. Riolu is a solid high to mid tier support.
