I can almost see what they were trying to do when they made Vespiquen, but “trying” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that statement. Vespiquen is designed as a slow, bulky pokemon with mixed physical and special offenses. It can use unique “Order” moves to boost its defenses, heal itself, and attack with a 90 power STAB attack with increased crit rate. This could almost work, except Bug-Flying typing has 5 weaknesses including common types like Fire, Ice, and Electric as well as a 4x weakness to Rock which really hurts due to how powerful Rock Slide is in doubles. All that said, Vespiquen at least has a concept of a plan for how it should be used. It is slow enough to work in Trick Room, and it can set Tailwind if you want. It has decent coverage options with moves like Sludge Bomb and Power Gem. Pick it late.
