Man, I’ve been waiting to talk about this one. I won’t beat around the bush. Cresselia is the best Trick Room setter of all time. With so many pokemon in this pool benefitting tremendously from Trick Room, it would be incredibly wise to draft Cresselia as soon as you get the chance. I don’t call it the best Trick Room setter of all time lightly either. Porygon2, Dusclops, Oranguru, Farigiraf, they all wish they were Cresselia. Sure, it doesn’t have a fancy ability or a synergistic typing, but I’ll tell you what it does have- monstrous, disgusting, impenetrable levels of bulk. If Cresselia were hit by an 18-wheeler going 90mph on I-85, the truck would flip on its head and cause a 20-car pileup, and Cresselia would just use Lunar Blessing and be fine. 120 HP, 110 Defense, and 120 Special Defense. It’s an amazing pokemon regardless of what kind of team it’s on, but being able to set Trick Room while being nigh impossible to one-shot makes it particularly suited to that role. But with 85 speed, it can just as well provide speed control on a faster team with Icy Wind. It can use Ally Switch, Helping Hand, Set Screens, etc, but the main event is Lunar Blessing. Dawg, this move heals 25% of its own and its ally’s health, works through protect, AND removes status effects. I know Arceus and Darkrai make good arguments for being 1st pick overall but to be honest, I’d respect the hell out of you for picking Cresselia instead. I’d also hate you because playing against this pokemon is an absolute nightmare. Nothing can outstall this thing. You can’t even poison it to death because it’ll just cure it. It can set up with Calm Mind all it wants and eventually start doing damage. It has all the time in the world. Alls I’m saying is if you wanna take down the Cresselia team, you’d better be packing some serious heat. And maybe some sleeping moves…
